Calliantha (Salix x calliantha) is a hybrid basket willow that's hard to find in the US. UK basketry growers prize it for its fine, dark purple rods, which add deep color to detailed work.
Hand-cut from our own coppiced stools at Harmony Springs Farm in Blountville, Tennessee.
GOOD FOR
- Fine, detailed basket weaving
- Dark color accents
- Weavers looking for something uncommon
FROM OUR BEDS
Our Calliantha stools came through their second year strong. In leaf, the stems show green. Basket growers describe the rods as dark purple once dormant, and we'll measure and photograph our rods at this winter's harvest.
LIMITED SUPPLY
We have only a small planting of Calliantha, so bundles are limited this season. Click "Notify when available" to hear first when pre-orders open.
