Retirement isn’t quiet around here — not when you grow some of the hottest peppers in the world. At Harmony Springs Farm in Blountville, Tennessee, we’re deep into harvest season, shipping peppers nationwide, adding new products, and spreading the heat at local events.

On TV with WJHL

We had the chance to share our story on WJHL Daytime Tri-Cities and Midday News, talking about our transition from engineering to farming, our superhot pepper lineup, and PepperFest 2025. Big thanks to the WJHL team for helping us shine a light on Appalachian farming and Tennessee peppers.

Pepper Seeds Now Available

We’re excited to announce that pepper seeds are now available in our online store. Whether you’re looking to grow something mild and crisp, a flavorful medium-heat variety, or push the limits with superhot peppers like the Carolina Reaper or Primotalii, we’ve got you covered. Our seed catalog includes:

  • Mild peppers for everyday cooking

  • Medium-heat peppers with rich flavor

  • Hot and superhot peppers for the daring

Now you can grow your own peppers — whether you want salsa-friendly varieties, traditional heirlooms, or the fire-breathing champions.

Harvest in Full Swing

We’re hot and heavy into harvest season here in Tennessee. The high tunnel is producing baskets of peppers weekly, and they’re going into fresh boxes for shipping across the country. If you’ve been waiting to order, this is prime time — peppers are at their peak, and supplies go fast.

PepperFest 2025 Recap – The Hottest Half Acre

Contestant screaming after eating a Death by Chocolate superhot pepper at PepperFest 2025, Bristol, Tennessee.

Everyone knows Bristol for the fastest half-mile at the Speedway. But this year, PepperFest earned the name of the hottest half acre. From fiery vendors to the extreme pepper-eating contest, the crowd got a front-row seat to just how diverse (and intense) peppers can be. The moment the winner bowed after crunching a Death by Chocolate pepper is one we’ll never forget.

Why We Farm

Harmony Springs Farm high tunnel greenhouse in Blountville, Tennessee growing superhot peppers.

We spent 40 years each in engineering and manufacturing, most of our adult life inside factories. Farming was never part of my plan — but retirement gave me the chance to take on something hands-on, outdoors, and meaningful. It allows my wife and me to work together, share a purpose, and grow something people across the country can enjoy. Many retirees return to the workforce because they miss having a purpose. For us, that purpose is growing peppers — all kinds of them.
